...the Draft

...there is a rumor on the wind that there could possibly another campaign starting up in the relative future. the focus of this group would be pretty loose and could expect to see some time doing playtesting of upcoming modules, if selected by the powers that be. I'll keep you all informed of any updates...or you could drop by and ask in person, what else you have going on in the middle of the week? ...that's what I thought...nuthin

...notwolf, Daring Darryl and Mikey hit Maddness Games (in Texas) this past friday for their FNM and did pretty well considering they missed the first round. notwolf even managed to hit top eight with his new and improved Urza's Machine Rogue deck. Mikey and Darryl also did well, with Darryl running his Ra'Finite deck and Mikey playing with a Steel Kitty deck. well done guys. ya did the Alliance Proud.

there is possibly another trip happening this friday, but nothing is definite at the moment. what is definite is that we will be going down from time to time, so if you want to help represent the shop, just let us know and we can throw ya in the mighty Land Yacht for the trip...

...The NGS (Nomad Gaming Society) tournie is coming up folks. It will be held on the 21st and we would like to see a good turn out from all you guys and gals that frequent the shop. Let's help them with this little shin-dig...

If you need more info, just swing on by and we'll set ya straight with the details.

...there is a change to this thursday Magic Tournie. Instead of a booster draft we will be holding a Mini-Master Tournie. That's righty folks...buy any one booster pack, throw in two of each land and your all set.

Time: Thorsday at 6pm
Cost: price of which ever booster you purchase.

so come on down...it's a hoot and a good time to boot.

cthulhu in 04!!!
(he can't be any worse than some of the other candidates....right?)

...well folks we got some new stuff in so you can get that Magic fix. That's right, come on in and get some while the gettin is good. We currently have the following booster packs available:
Invasion
Stronghold
Darksteel
Mirrodin

We also have two new "fatpacks"...one for scourge and one for Invasion. Not sure how long they'll last so you may want to come on in early this week to snag them up.

In addition, we have some new sleeves for them decks in various colors...

...just thought I'd let you all know what's up and new.
see, I can be nice too!

...First off I would like to thank all you guys for comin out for the LAN this satyrday. I would also like to thank Ty and Wire for there assistance in keeping this little event running with their "tech" know how.
In related news you may, or may not, have noticed a change to the ole weekly events. That is not a mistype...indeed, we will be now hosting LAN's every weekend so if you are looking to play some games, come on down. the cost will always be 5 bucks, and you play for as long as we're open. This typically means that the last LAN'ers don't leave until 7am the next morning! ofta! No worries though folks...come on down, the more the merrier, as they say.

...On the RPG scene we have a new campaign starting up this friday and it is being run on a weekly basis. It is a d20 Modern Setting and is being run by Ty. I believe that it may be full but until I talk to Ty about it I will not know for sure.

This will be Ty's first campaign so be gentle folks...heh

In my campaign I have done a major shift in gears. I have left the d20 System and jumped over to the Hero System. I have also opted to go with Jedi, that's right Jedi, and the Force instead of the standard magic systems out there...including the one in the hero system. This application of the Force will be in a test run stage till I work out the kinks but I have most of the kits worked out for play.

I expect it to be a little slow going at first but no worries there folks...we'll get through this.

If Y O U would like to start up a campaign, just let myself or notwolf know so we can get you put onto the ole calender. The table space is free and, as per the norm, GM's get a nice little discount for even running there games in the shoppe...

...We went to the prerelease in OKC nine members strong and did pretty well overall with 5 people going into the top eight out of two flights. Over all I would say that we all enjoyed ourselves quite a bit and I can see this becoming a regular little habit that we will continue to do in the future. Not to mention that of all the "groups" I would say that we once again probably did the best overall considering the number of players we had and the overall percentage of wins to losses...this is a good thing, especially if people are serious about attempting to start our own official shoppe team for team based events that are held.

As far as the event went it was a bit harder than expected overall. With the new mechanic of "sunburst" it made building decks in a "sealed deck" environment quite a bit harder. None the less, our folks came through quite well and were more than willing to step up to the plate and the overall records show this.

The shoppe shirt also seemed to garner quite a bit of attention as well, and this is not so surprising especially when you have nine people wandering around with the exact same shirt on!

...In upcoming Special Event Magic Tournies we can expect to see Mini-Master make an appearance once more. The previous time all seemed to enjoy themselves and there has been a call as of recently for this little guy to appear once more and let it not be said that we never listen to the people...

so...until next time...."Rock the Beacon!"

..expect the all new, not that we have an older version, Red River shirts to be in before the weekend. At this time we have 12 coming in of which several are already taken. Should you decide you want one, just let us know. These particular shirts will be limited so you may want to snatch them up while ya can. Future editions will be a little different...not much but enough.

The bottom line? Get an original Red River Games shirt and show your support for this lil'company...you get the side benefit of wearing a shirt for all those places that require shirts and shoes too....the shoes are your problem though, we can only do so much.

We'll be back on sunday though...sooo...calm down.

::: Sonday :::
12pm: HeroClix Tournie (this has been a tad slow lately but we are still having them folks, come on in!)
6pm : D&D 3e - ursa's campaign (closed to new players at this time, sorry)
..........

...the Draft

...we are still looking for GM's to run RPG's, and per the norm, we offer a discount to you GM's if you run your game here! If you interested just let notwolf or myself know and we'll get ya set up... on a side note the table space is free...so, what have ya got to lose? ...free table space, good folk, discount on purchases (for you GM's).... get over here already...yeesh.

...next satyrday, there's another LAN scheduled. More than likely one can expect to see Starcraft, The Specialist, Counter-Strike, Warcraft III, and few other games played. Bring your system on down...it's only 5 bucks for the entire day/night...and I mean night! This past LAN finally closed up at 7am Sonday morning! you can't beat that with a stick!

...my my my...it appears Nova is quite the little beat-stick. At a 6 cost we have an 11/12 hero with the ability to discard a Spider-Friends card to gain a +x to his attack equal to the resource cost of the discarded "friend". he also has flight...wonder if they gave him a ranged attack? not to shabby overall though, and the art work is pretty durn good too...
